Chinese Roses

The rose needs no introduction, as it is probably the most popular of the flowers, and among the most symbolic of all cultivated plants. The rose is the emblem of England and the national flower of the United States. It is the official flower of New York state. The Chinese rose is among the most famous flowers in China, where it ranked first some centuries ago. The names of the roses depicted on these Chinese stamps issued on 20 April 1984 are:
