Plum Blossom

Plum Blossom is the official flower of Nanjing, and local people traditionally view plum blossoms in early spring each year. An international plum blossom festival is regularly devoted to plum blossom in this capital of east China's Jiangsu Province, attracting guests from several countries and regions, including France, Austria, Australia, the United States, Sweden, the Republic of Korea, Britain and Japan.

The plum is any of several shrubs or small trees of the genus Prunus, bearing smooth-skinned, fleshy, edible fruit with a single hard-shelled stone that encloses the seed. It is also the name of the fruit of any of these trees.

The Chinese term for plum blossom is Meihua.
